Located in the northeast corner of Crow Wing County, Minnesota, the city of Outing is part of Minnesota's Central Lakes Region and home to a diversity of lakes, streams, wetlands and heavily forested areas. Outing and the neighboring city of Emily's rural charm entices visitors and residents with great hunting, fishing, bird watching, wildlife watching, ATV trails, and other outdoor activities. The Emily & Outing area real estate covers lakefront properties on the Roosevelt Chain of Lakes, Lake Washburn, along with lake homes, cabins and lots about five miles north of Outing and ten miles to the south of Emily, Minnesota.
Area Attractions and Region
Lusher’s Park is located on beautiful Lawrence Lake on County Road 58 just east of Downtown Outing and has brand new playground equipment and handicapped accessible restroom facilities. There is a public boat landing for Lawrence Lake with a waterway to Roosevelt Lake. There is a fishing pier adjoining Lusher’s Park. Construction was funded by the Outing Chamber of Commerce, Crooked Lake Township and the Marcia Stainer Memorial Fund.
Land O'Lakes State Forest is located in northeastern Cass County about 140 miles west of Duluth and 180 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The forest can be reached from the south by following State Highway 6 for six miles north of Outing. Several major forest roads (Draper and Pikus) provide access to the interior for many types of outdoor activities.
Our area offers two choices of public campgrounds. The largest is Clint Converse Campground and Day-Use Area, offers 31 campsites. The other, Baker and White Oak Lake Campground, offers two campsites and a great access to the Moose River ATV Trail. The Moose River ATV Trail is located in the Land 'O Lakes State Forest. The trail follows gently-rolling terrain through dense woods around small lakes and ponds while following the upper stretches of the Moose River. This scenic area is the start of the great pine forests of northern Minnesota, and there are many lakes and resorts nearby. The trail is located near the town of Outing just south of Remer.
Outdoor recreation opportunities include hiking, cross country skiing and mountain biking on the Washburn Lake ski trails, in the solitude area at Washburn Lake, and the Moose River ATV Trail.
The City of Emily has two developed parks available for resident and visitor enjoyment. The City Park is located on South of East County Road 1. Features of this park include towering pines, new playground equipment, a basketball hoop, pavilion, picnic tables, bench seating and grills. Also enjoy a photo opportunity with "Willy the Walleye" and the historical skidder. This park is host to the Community's celebration of Emily Day as well.
The City's Ballpark area is located south of West County Road 1. Features of this park include two regulation and one little league ball field, a pavilion, fenced playground, basketball hoop, memorial seating, picnic tables, grills and tennis court.
